Tournament Features

Tournament features are unique functionalities that make competitions more diverse and engaging. They allow organizers to create unique mechanics for tournaments, while giving participants more opportunities to achieve goals and secure victories.

What Are Tournament Features?

Tournament features are additional settings and characteristics that expand the formats and rules of competitions. They can modify how points are awarded, add bonuses, provide unique rewards, or introduce new participation conditions. Thanks to tournament features, every event becomes unique and tailored to specific goals.

In Impulse, there are already several tournament features available, but you can also propose your own competition mechanic idea, which we will implement as a new tournament feature.

Virtual Points and Boosters

Participants earn points for their workouts. The number of points awarded may depend on:

  • Distance covered.
  • Type of sport.
  • Specific tournament settings.

Points are used to rank participants or teams in the tournament and determine winners through nominations.

Boosters

Boosters are temporary enhancements that give participants additional advantages:

  • Increase the number of points earned during the duration of the booster.
  • Available for coins: Coins are a virtual currency that participants can purchase (if tournament participation is paid) or receive periodically (e.g., daily during the tournament).
  • Work in team rankings: If the tournament supports a team format, boosters enhance the entire team's results.

Personal Goals

Each participant can work towards individual goals tailored to their fitness level or strive to achieve a common goal set for all participants. Example of a goal:

  • Run a specific distance during the tournament.

Achieving goals may be mandatory for advancing to the finals or serve as an additional way to earn points.

Elimination Game

This mechanic adds an element of tension and constant activity. Participants must meet a specific condition to remain in the tournament. If a participant fails to meet the condition, they are marked as eliminated and lose the chance to become a finalist.

Example: A participant must complete a workout daily that meets the tournament’s criteria (e.g., minimum distance or pace). Rules and validation criteria are configured by the organizers.

Finalist Qualification Conditions

This auxiliary feature is especially useful for promotional tournaments. It allows organizers to set additional requirements that participants must fulfill to qualify as finalists.

It’s important to note that these conditions do not directly determine the winner, but they are mandatory for advancing to the finals. If a participant achieves the main tournament goals (e.g., ranks first in distance or reaches their personal goal) but does not meet these additional conditions, they cannot become the winner. In such cases, the victory passes to the next participant in the rankings.

Examples of conditions:

  • The user has connected Telegram in their Impulse profile.
  • The user is subscribed to a Telegram channel (subscription status is automatically verified via the Telegram bot).

How to Choose Tournament Features?

Tournament features are enabled by event administrators.

It is possible to combine multiple tournament features in a single tournament.
