Communities in Impulse

Communities in Impulse are open spaces for athletes to come together for joint training sessions, share experiences, and participate in events. Unlike clubs, members can join multiple communities simultaneously.

Communities are primarily designed for collective online training sessions, but nothing stops you from meeting and training in person with participants from your various communities!

Creating and Managing a Community

  1. Creating a Community
Any user can create their own community. To do this, go to the My Communities section and click "Create Community." Provide a name, select a sport, configure privacy settings, and click "Create."

  2. Managing Members
The community owner can invite new members, remove current ones, and assign administrators. Members can join the community via a link, through a request, using a secret code, or directly, depending on the community's settings.

  3. Privacy
You can make the community private. Some profile data will still be visible to all registered Impulse users, but the main data and member standings will only be accessible to community participants.

  4. Features

    • A user can be part of multiple communities at the same time.
    • There are no restrictions on the number of communities you can create.
    • You can choose a sport for the community from all available sports in Impulse.

Community Statistics

Currently, communities track only one metric for the selected sport:

  • Total Distance: The distance covered by community members in kilometers.

Data retrieval is limited to any selected time period. However, you can view data for the entire time since the community’s creation, for a year, a month, a specific week of the year, or a particular day in the year.

Workout Validation

Any workouts for the community’s chosen sport with a non-zero distance are counted towards the community’s standings without undergoing basic workout validation criteria.

Workouts created manually by users can be automatically included in the community’s standings. This option can be enabled by community administrators in the community settings.

Telegram Integration

Communities support integration with Telegram for easier interaction:

  • Personal Chat with the Bot: Members can receive personal statistics through a private chat with the Impulse Telegram Bot.
  • Group Chat: Add the bot to a group chat and link it to your community. Administrators can publish overall community statistics, and members can access individual data.
