Activity validations

The Impulse platform uses two types of workout verification:

  • Automatic Validation
The system automatically checks the workout against predefined criteria. This process is performed without human intervention.

  • Manual Review by an Administrator
If a workout fails automatic validation or requires additional review, it is sent to an administrator for manual verification. The administrator reviews the data and decides whether to approve the workout.

Automatic and manual validation

When you import a workout into Impulse, we automatically check it for compliance with several criteria. We refer to these checks as Automatic Activity Validation, or auto-validation, for short. This process is designed to help us determine as accurately as possible if the training is realistic or not. If a workout has not been successfully validated, it will be rejected and not counted in your training stats.

Each sport has its own set of verification criteria, and they are united by the fact that, depending on the successful compliance or non-compliance with one of them, the training will take one of three statuses:

  • Fully approved - all training data is fully approved
  • Partially approved - part of the training distance was rejected
  • The training was aimed at checking with the administrator - as the system was unable to accurately determine the validity of the training. We requested the assistance of our Impulse administrator to resolve the issue.

Validation of a workout is a process that determines which data will be included in the final score and whether it should be included at all. A workout can have multiple validations, but only one validation can be active at any given time.

The status of your workout is displayed in the header in the form of a circle (see the image), which can be one of three colors:

  • The green circle 🟢 - fully approved
  • The yellow circle 🟡 - workout is pending validation OR partially approved ИЛИ activity approved by administrator but there were some changes in its' data
  • The red circle 🔴 - the training was rejected

When you hover over the circle, you will be able to see the exact description of the status.

A link to the active validation, as well as links to all other validations of the training, can be found by clicking on the right More information on the training page.

There are two types of validation:

  • Automatic - performed by the system
  • Validation by the administrator - performed by the Impulse administrator.

Any user who has access to a workout can request validation from the administrator if they disagree with the results of the auto-validation process. The administrator will then review the training session according to their priority, and the more validation requests they receive, the higher their priority becomes.

To request validation of a workout from an administrator, please use the "three dots" menu on the workout page and select "Request validation from an administrator". In the dialog box that appears, please provide a mandatory description of your request, explaining what and why you believe the data in this workout should be corrected. Once you have completed this information, click "Confirm" to submit your request.

After successfully submitting a request for training validation to the administrator, you can access the validation page through the detailed information dialog box. The link to the validation page will be located at the bottom of the page, in the Other Validations section.

When the administrator completes the validation review, they will make a decision, possibly changing some training data. After this, the previous active validation process will become inactive and will be replaced by a validation process confirmed by the administrator.

Also, if the administrator does not require validation of the workout, they can reject it, thereby confirming that the current active validation of the workout is correct. The validation status will be marked as Validation was not required with additional explanation: The administrator does not need to perform this validation; the current validation has been confirmed.

Validation Levels

Auto-validation is the process of checking whether a workout meets specific criteria. These criteria are referred to as "validation criteria" or "workout selection criteria."

Currently, validation criteria are applied at two levels:

  • Basic Level
If a workout meets the basic criteria, it will be counted in the Impulse statistics, club statistics, and events that inherit the basic validation criteria.

  • Event Level
Events can either inherit the basic selection criteria or have their own custom criteria. If an event has custom validation criteria, the workout must meet those criteria to be included in the event's tournament tables.

Note:

A workout undergoes auto-validation at all applicable levels if it matches the sports type and dates of the tournament table. However, the administrator decides at which level to credit the workout. Therefore, if you are given the option to specify a level when submitting a request for admin review, clearly indicate the desired level for your workout to be evaluated.
