Importing Activities
Importing activities into the Impulse platform allows you to easily upload data about your sports activities from various sources. We support integration with popular services like Strava and Google so you can focus on your workouts instead of manual data entry.
Setting up activity import sources is done in your profile settings.
Supported Data Sources
Strava: Strava - is the most convenient way to import activities. Allows you to connect almost any device. A stable GPS signal is required for accurate workout recording. Your activity map will be imported into Impulse. Activities are imported automatically if the connection is set up correctly. Follow the instructions to set up Strava.
Polar: A convenient option for Polar watch owners or those who record workouts only via their phone. The Polar Flow app for Android or for iOS is used for recording workouts. A stable GPS signal is necessary for accuracy. Your activity map will be imported into Impulse. Activities are imported automatically when the setup is correct. Follow the instructions to set up Polar as a training source.
Google Health: Import physical activity data from your Google account. Note that Google plans to discontinue Google Health, so this service may stop working soon. If your devices or apps support Google Health Connect, it is recommended to use it. If you still need to use Google Health, then use the instructions to set it up.
Google Health Connect: Import physical activity data from your Google account via the Impulse app (available for Android). You can use the Google Health app or other apps integrated with Google Health Connect, such as Mi Fitness, to record workouts. Some apps, including Google Health and Mi Fitness, allow you to record workouts without using GPS.
Data Source | VPN Required | Ability to Record Without GPS |
---|---|---|
Strava | Yes | No |
Polar | No | No |
Google Health | No | Yes |
Google Health Connect | No | Yes |
What Happens After Import?
After import, activities undergo a validation process to ensure the data is accurate and meets platform requirements. If the activity passes validation successfully, it will be counted in Impulse statistics, personal and club standings, and events that inherit the platform's basic validation criteria. For more details on activity validation, see the Activity Validation section.
Important Notes
- Duplicates: If you have connected multiple data sources, ensure that activities are not duplicated. For more information on handling duplicates, see the Duplicate Activities section.
- Import Timing: Activities are counted in tournament tables based on their start time, end time, and creation time in the Impulse system. Ensure the timing is correct to ensure the activity falls within the desired scoring period.
Strava and Polar. Synchronization of Activities.
Synchronization of activities with a properly configured source occurs automatically. As soon as an activity appears in the source (e.g., in Strava), it is almost instantly displayed in Impulse. If you do not see the activity in your profile, try refreshing the page.
In rare cases, an activity may not load automatically. This can be caused by issues on the source's side or within the Impulse platform. In such situations, you can use the manual synchronization feature. To do this, click the "Add Activities" button in your profile, select the date from which you want to start loading data (e.g., a day before the desired activity), and click "Synchronize." The status of the upload will be displayed in your profile, and once it is complete, the activity will appear in the list.
Note:
Frequent manual synchronization requests may be restricted.
If manual synchronization does not help:
Try reconnecting your account in your profile settings. Click "Unlink," then reconnect the source again.
Google Fit. Synchronization of Activities.
When you open your profile page, we automatically request recent activities from Google Fit. If such activities exist, they will be imported and displayed in your profile. You can also perform synchronization manually using the "Add Activities" button, as described above.
Google Health Connect. Synchronization of Activities.
To synchronize activities from Google Health Connect, you need to download and install our app. Activity import occurs automatically every time you open the app.
GPS Data:
Google restricts access to geolocation data for third-party apps, so the activity map is unavailable when importing from Google Health Connect.
Importing Past Activities
Strava does not impose restrictions on importing past activities; however, we have a limited number of API requests to Strava. Therefore, we allow full activity data to be imported only for a specific time period. To check the current available period for importing past activities, open the dialog window using the "Add Activities" button. This information will be displayed in the center of the screen, above the date filters.
Other sources also have limitations on importing past activities:
- Polar: Importing past activities is not possible. Activities can only be imported after connecting Polar to Impulse.
- Google Fit: Only activities from the last 30 days are available for import.
